Faqs Patients Have Before Their First Emsculpt Session

Posted on: 21 August 2020

Emsculpt is a new technique for tightening and toning the body without any incisions or even injections. It uses strong electromagnets to cause your muscles to contract many times in a minute, which leaves the muscles firmer and also helps get rid of body fat. Since Emsculpt is so different, you are certain to have some questions, like the following, before you arrive for your first session.

What does the machine look like?

The Emsculpt machine is pretty simple and does not look scary or intimidating. The most common type of machine looks like a box, and it has an applicator about the size of a small saucepan attached to it with a thick plastic cord. The applicator can be placed on your abdomen, arm, hips, or wherever else you need the treatment. It is secured with a thick elastic band.

What does it feel like?

The sensation of having Emsculpt treatments could be described as intense, but not painful. You will feel the muscle contractions; it will feel a bit like a cramp or charlie horse, but without the pain. Most patients actually feel like the treatment gives them an adrenaline rush. They feel energized and revitalized after the treatment.

How long does it take to get results?

You will notice an improvement in your muscle tone right after having an Emsculpt treatment. But then, your results will continue to develop in the next week or two. The initial effect is from your muscles tightening, and the greater improvements that follow are the result of your fat cells shedding fat. They release this fat as a result of the electromagnetic waves' effects on them.

Some patients are happy with their results after just one treatment, but many do need a few treatments to get more dramatic results.

Can you have multiple areas treated at once?

Yes. Emsculpt is really safe and non-invasive, so if you want to have, for example, both your buttocks and arms treated, you can do that during the same session. Your practitioner will probably treat one area and then the other, rather than treating them at the same time, simply because this is the easiest way to set the machine up. Treating each session will take about 30 minutes.

Emsculpt is a really good choice for patients who want to lose stubborn fat and tone their muscle, but who don't want to undergo an invasive procedure. Talk to your doctor if you have any additional questions.
