However, you may overlook the need to properly care for these capes, which can cause them to be more likely to suffer wear and tear. Air Dry The Capes
It will be necessary for you to wash the capes after each use. However, you should never place the capes into the dryer. The intense heat that is generated by the dryer can put tremendous stress on the fibers of the cape. When this happens, the fibers can be more likely to become frayed, stretched or otherwise damaged. To minimize this type of wear and tear, you will want to hang the capes in a well-ventilated area with plenty of sunlight. This will help to dry them as quickly as possible. If you make the mistake of putting these capes somewhere that is dark and poorly ventilated, the cape may take too long to dry, which can result in them develop mildew or mold.
Properly Store The Capes
When you are not using your capes, you will need to ensure that they are properly stored. Unfortunately, some salon owners may not give much thought to the storage of these capes, and this can cause them to develop foul odors, grow mold or develop other issues. To avoid these problems, you will want to make sure that you are storing the capes in an area with low humidity. High humidity can lead to the capes develop condensation. This condition will create ideal conditions for the capes to mildew or grow mold.
Additionally, you will want to avoid placing the capes in an area that receives sustained sunlight. While short-term exposure to sunlight can be an excellent way of helping to dry the capes, prolonged exposure can actually cause damage. This occurs because the sun's ultraviolet rays of light will be powerful enough to cause the fibers in the cape to become discolored. Additionally, this can eventually cause the fibers to break down, which can lead to holes or tears forming in the cape.
